Trick Daddy

Maurice Samuel Young, known as Trick Daddy, is a prominent American rapper and songwriter who has made significant contributions to Southern hip-hop. After appearing on the track ‘Scarred’ by former 2 Live Crew member Luther ‘Luke’ Campbell in 1996, Trick Daddy’s musical career gained significant momentum. Signed to Slip-n-Slide Records by founder Ted Lucas, he released his debut album, ‘Based on a True Story,’ in 1997, which quickly achieved local popularity in Miami. In 1998, he solidified his national presence with his second album, ‘www.thug.com.’ This album featured the breakout hit ‘Nann Nigga,’ a collaboration with Trina, which soared to number three on the Billboard Hot Rap Singles chart.

His influence extended beyond his solo work, notably featuring as a guest performer on DJ Khaled’s ‘I’m So Hood’ in 2007, a track that further cemented his presence in hip-hop. Expanding his creative endeavors, he made his foray into acting with an appearance in the 2010 film ‘Just Another Day.’ More recently, Trick Daddy ventured into television, joining the cast of the VH1 reality series ‘Love & Hip Hop: Miami,’ which premiered in 2018. Through his consistent release of chart-performing music and strategic career evolutions across various platforms, Trick Daddy has maintained his status as a significant and enduring figure in Southern hip-hop, consistently delivering content that resonates with his fanbase and solidifies his legacy in the genre.
