Kim Min-seok, known professionally as Xiumin, was born on March 26, 1990, in Seoul, South Korea. His early life included extensive training in martial arts, holding black belts in Kendo and Taekwondo, and studying Wushu and Fencing. His musical career began after winning second place in the SM Everysing Contest in 2008, leading him to become a trainee with SM Entertainment.
Xiumin debuted as the seventh member of Exo in January 2012. The group quickly gained recognition, and in 2013, Xiumin appeared in the music video for Jin’s song “Gone.” His acting path began in 2015 with his musical theatre debut in SM Entertainment’s production “School OZ,” followed by a leading role in the web drama “Falling for Challenge.” In 2016, he made his big-screen debut in the South Korean film “Seondal: The Man Who Sells the River.” His career further diversified with the formation of Exo’s first official sub-unit, Exo-CBX, in October 2016, alongside Chen and Baekhyun.
After completing his mandatory military service from May 2019 to December 2020, Xiumin launched his solo career with the EP “Brand New” in September 2022. In January 2024, he joined INB100 to manage his solo activities, while continuing group activities with Exo under SM Entertainment. His career includes multiple collaborations, soundtrack contributions, and appearances in television and web shows, showcasing his adaptability across various entertainment platforms.
