Yung Gravy

Matthew Raymond Hauri, known professionally as Yung Gravy, was born on March 19, 1996, in Rochester, Minnesota. He pursued his education at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, where he earned a marketing degree in December 2017. During his college years, Hauri was involved in developing branding strategies for startup companies and initiated several of his own ventures.

Inspired by artists like Lil Yachty and Lil Peep, he began his music career on SoundCloud. In 2017, Hauri transitioned to music full-time, self-recording songs which quickly led to his first sold-out tour, causing him to miss his graduation ceremony. He gained significant recognition in 2017 with his songs “Mr. Clean” and “1 Thot 2 Thot Red Thot Blue Thot,” both of which achieved platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). These early successes established his presence in the SoundCloud rap scene.

His career progression includes four studio albums, one mixtape, and seven extended plays. His 2022 single, “Betty (Get Money),” marked his debut on the Billboard Hot 100, reaching number 30 and also receiving platinum certification. Gravy has collaborated with notable artists such as Lil Baby, Juicy J, T-Pain, Dillon Francis, and Lil Wayne, as well as media personality Martha Stewart, demonstrating his broad appeal and versatility. His musical style is characterized by the fusion of trap music with elements of soul and funk from the 1950s, 60s, 70s, and 80s, often sampling classic tracks. In 2025, he is slated to voice the character Golem in the video game “Dispatch.”
