Drummer Aaron Comess is best known as a founding member of Grammy-nominated American rock band Spin Doctors. The band are world famous for their early 90’s hits including Billboard Top 10 smash ‘Two Princes’ and ‘Little Miss Can’t Be Wrong’, and their debut album Pocket Full of Kryptonite went Triple Platinum selling five million copies in the US alone and reaching the top 3 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. In addition to his work with Spin Doctors, Comess has written for, produced or played on in excess of two hundred albums for a diverse and acclaimed roster of artists including Isaac Hayes, Chris Whitely, New York Electric Piano, James Maddock, Bilal, Rachael Yamagata, March Cohn and Joan Osborne.
Comess has also dropped three critically acclaimed recordings of original instrumental songs: Beautiful Mistake, Catskills Cry and Mistake. Each collection reflects the talent and diversity Comess demonstrates as a performer and composer, with organic melodic tracks that focus on the conversation between musicians. More recently Comess released The Aaron Comess Quintet, a straight forward classic jazz offering.
No stranger to performing live after his years with Spin Doctors – which included gigs at Glastonbury Festival and Woodstock ’94 – Comess has also appeared on stage and television with some of the world’s leading musical stars, including André Bocelli, Edie Brikell, Natasha Bedingfield, German megastar Marius Westernhagen, Joan Osborne and David Foster.
