Aarthi Sampath began her culinary career in Mumbai, India, where she was born and raised. She attended IHM Jaipur, focusing on culinary literature and classical French cooking, before gaining experience in diverse kitchens at prestigious Taj hotels across Mumbai, New Delhi, Chennai, and Hyderabad. Her continued pursuit of culinary knowledge led her to the United States, where she specialized in Food Service Management and Baking and Pastry at Johnson & Wales Culinary University in Providence, Rhode Island. During her studies, she interned at the Michelin-starred Junoon in New York City, where she quickly advanced to Chef De Cuisine.
Her career progressed with significant achievements, including being appointed Executive Chef at American Gymkhana in Orlando, Florida, a restaurant established by the founders of Junoon. Sampath’s expertise in Indian cuisine was recognized when she prepared a dinner for Prime Minister Modi at the Waldorf Astoria in NYC as part of The “Billionaire’s Club Dinner” during her time at Junoon. She has also made numerous television appearances, winning the culinary competition “Chopped,” competing with Iron Chef Bobby Flay where biryani was her winning dish, and participating in “Fire Masters.” She has served as a judge on “Worst Cooks of America” and “Beat Bobby Flay,” and was invited as a judge for the debut season of MasterChef Tamil.
Beyond her television work, Aarthi Sampath expanded her entrepreneurial endeavors, running 39 Kukree, a fast-casual food truck in Seattle that prioritized local produce and healthful eating. She also worked as a chef and F&B consultant at the Breslin, where she was mentored by Chef April Bloomfield, further refining her understanding of ingredients and cooking techniques. Currently, she is recognized for her role as a chef and judge on MasterChef Tamil and continues to be a prominent figure in the culinary world as a chef, restaurant consultant, and TV personality.
