American artistic gymnast Alec Yoder has represented his home country at the Olympic Games, after winning medals at the Pacific Rim Championships and the Youth Olympics.
Yoder has been training in gymnastics since he was just four years old, attending classes in his native Indiana. In 2013 he qualified to be part of the US Men’s Junior National Team, qualifying again the following year. He also won two gold medals, a silver and a bronze medal at the 2014 Pacific Rim Championships, as well as four golds and a silver at the Junior Pan Am Championships. It was in the same year that he accepted a place at Ohio State University on a gymnastics scholarship. His junior career continued to go from strength to strength with more medals at the 2014 Youth Olympic Games and at the 2015 Winter Cup, before moving into the senior division from 2016. By now, Yoder was well known for his skill in the individual events such as the pommel horse, high bar and horizontal bar, rejoining Team USA in 2018 after recovering from surgery.
In 2018 Yoder competed in the Doha World Cup and the following year he graduated from college with a total of 10 All American awards.
Most recently this world class athlete represented the USA at the 2020 Olympic Games, finishing sixth in the final event. Yoder is now one of the most well known members of Team USA, and is in the prime of his career.
