Alexa Ellesse PenaVega was born on August 27, 1988, in Ocala, Florida, and raised in Los Angeles, California. Her acting career began at a young age, with early roles in television shows such as “Evening Shade” (1993-1994) and “ER” (1995), and films like “Twister” (1996), where she played young Jo Harding. She gained widespread recognition in 2001 for her lead role as Carmen Cortez in the “Spy Kids” film series. This breakthrough led to her appearing in two sequels, “Spy Kids 2: The Island of Lost Dreams” (2002) and “Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over” (2003), where she performed many of her own stunts. Her varied acting work continued to build her profile.
Throughout the 2000s and 2010s, PenaVega expanded her acting portfolio across different genres and platforms. She starred in films such as “Sleepover” (2004), “Repo! The Genetic Opera” (2008) where she played Shilo Wallace, and “From Prada to Nada” (2011). These projects include “Ms Matched” (2016), “Love at Sea” (2018), and the “Picture Perfect Mysteries” series (2019-2020), where she also served as an executive producer. Additionally, she has lent her voice to animated series like “The Loud House” (2017–present) and “The Casagrandes” (2019–2022) as Carlota Casagrande. She has also co-authored books with her husband, including the children’s book “Ocean’s World: An Island Tale of Discovery and Adventure” and the book “What if Love is the Point?”, further diversifying her professional endeavors.
