Anson Williams, a multifaceted talent in the world of entertainment, was born on September 25, 1949, in Los Angeles, California. Best known for his iconic role as Warren “Potsie” Weber on the beloved television series Happy Days, which ran from 1974 to 1984, Williams captured audiences with his portrayal of the gullible and well-intentioned singer. His compelling performance earned him a nomination for the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor – Series, Miniseries, or Television Film.
Williams showcased his artistic versatility early in his career by appearing in the Sherman Brothers’ original musical, Victory Canteen, at the Ivar Theater in Los Angeles in 1971. Beyond acting, Williams ventured into the business world. In 1987, alongside fellow Happy Days cast member Al Molinaro, he co-founded a chain of diners named Big Al’s, although the venture was short-lived.
As of July 2023, Williams has embraced a new artistic endeavor, collaborating with his wife, memoirist Sharon MaHarry. The couple, married since May, is working on a one-woman stage play based on MaHarry’s book, Crazy Mama: A Memoir of Love and Madness. The memoir, a recipient of the 2014 Southwest Writers Competition and Santa Barbara Writers Conference Fiction Award, explores the challenges of growing up with a mother battling mental illness. Anson Williams continues to leave an indelible mark in both the entertainment industry and creative collaborations with his wife, showcasing the depth of his talents and passions.
