Aya Cash

Aya Cash gained significant critical recognition for her starring role as Gretchen Cutler in the FX/FXX dark comedy series ‘You’re the Worst,’ which aired for five seasons from 2014 to 2019. This performance earned her nominations for the Critics’ Choice Television Award for Best Actress in a Comedy Series and the TCA Award for Individual Achievement in Comedy, both in 2016. Cash commenced her professional journey after graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting from the University of Minnesota in partnership with the Guthrie Theater in 2004. Her early television career included a series regular role in the 2011 Fox comedy ‘Traffic Light’ and episodic appearances in series like ‘Law & Order’ (2006), ‘Brotherhood’ (2007), and ‘The Newsroom’ (2013).

During this period, Cash further expanded her film work with appearances in ‘Mary Goes Round’ (2017), ‘Game Over, Man!’ (2018), and ‘Scare Me’ (2020). Most recently, Cash took on the main role of Cheryl Peterson in the Fox sitcom ‘Welcome to Flatch,’ appearing from 2022 to 2023, and played Anita in the HBO series ‘The Franchise’ in 2024. Expanding her international presence in theater, Cash is slated to star as Jessie Stone in Mark Rosenblatt’s play ‘Giant’ in London’s West End in 2025. Beyond her prolific on-screen and stage work, Cash is a dedicated advocate for humanitarian causes, serving as a celebrity ambassador for INARA, an NGO committed to assisting war-wounded refugee children from Syria.
