Bae Suzy is a multi-award-winning South Korean actress and singer who first found fame as part of the world-famous K-Pop group, Miss A. Even before that group disbanded in 2017, however, Suzy had already established herself as a groundbreaking actress, becoming the first Korean to win rookie awards in singing, drama, film, and variety. She is also the first Korean to have been immortalised in wax at Madame Tussauds. Her most popular solo track to date, ‘I Love You Boy’ (from the soundtrack of While You Were Sleeping) has been streamed over 36 million times.
Miss A, with whom Suzy first made her name, formed in 2010 and went on to ride the crest of the K-Pop explosion. Still rated as one of the greatest bands of their genre ever, they enjoyed huge hits at home and in America with the likes of ‘Good-Bye Baby’ and ‘Bad Girl Good Girl’. Suzy became their breakout star, debuting in a 2011 Korean teen series called Dream High. She made her film debut in 2012 with the box-office hit, Architecture 101. Her official debut solo single, ‘Pretend’, was released in 2016 and made number-two on the Korean charts.
Suzy’s popularity has ensured that she has become hugely sought-after by brands wanting her to endorse their products. To that end, she has worked with the likes of Dior and Longines. As one might expect, she is also insanely popular on social media, with nearly 18 million Instagram followers. Among her most recent projects is playing Lee Yumi in the drama series, Anna.
