A graduate of NYU’s Graduate Acting Program, Boris McGiver quickly established himself as a versatile presence in film and television. His early career included notable appearances in films such as Ironweed (1987) and Little Odessa (1994), showcasing his range in dramatic roles. McGiver gained significant recognition for his recurring role as Charles Marimow in HBO’s critically acclaimed series The Wire (2006). He continued to build his profile with roles in the Emmy Award-winning HBO miniseries John Adams (2008) and the major feature film Lincoln (2012), where he portrayed Alexander Hamilton Coffroth.
In recent years, McGiver has maintained a busy schedule with a range of impactful performances. He was featured as Glen Maskins in ABC’s legal drama For Life (2020) and made guest appearances in popular series such as NBC’s Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (2021) and Showtime’s historical drama The First Lady (2022). He also delighted audiences as Father Bonnet in HBO Max’s critically praised comedy Our Flag Means Death (2022). Looking ahead, McGiver is set to appear as Donald Kelly in the upcoming 2024 series Teacup.
