Boris Mcgiver

Born on January 23, 1962, in upstate New York, Boris McGiver is the son of actor John McGiver. He was raised with nine siblings by his mother in an old 1831 Baptist church. Initially, McGiver did not plan to pursue acting, with a primary goal in his youth being to attend the U.S. Air Force Academy. He was accepted into the Academy’s class of 1984 but was ultimately let go due to minor knee problems, which prevented him from meeting the rigorous physical requirements for incoming cadets. This unexpected turn of events led him back to an earlier, nascent interest in acting. He subsequently enrolled in NYU’s Graduate Acting Program.

McGiver has established a significant career in both television and film, appearing in a wide range of productions. His notable television roles include Uncle George in Apple TV’s “Servant” (2019–2023), Glen Maskins in ABC’s “For Life” (2020), Monsignor Korecki in CBS’s “Evil” (2019–2024), and Tom Hammerschmidt in “House of Cards” (2013–2018). He also played Hersh in “Person of Interest” (2012–2014) and Charles Marimow in “The Wire” (2006). In film, McGiver has appeared in prominent features such as “Lincoln” (2012), “Taxi” (2004), and “Point Blank” (2019).

His career highlights also include guest roles in popular series like “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” (2021), “Our Flag Means Death” (2022), “The First Lady” (2022), and “The Blacklist” (2017). McGiver credits acting teacher Ron Van Lieu with helping him develop his understanding of the craft.
