He then transferred to Auburn University, quickly becoming the starting quarterback for the 2010 season. Newton led Auburn to an undefeated season, culminating in a victory in the 2011 BCS National Championship Game. During this season, he received the Heisman Trophy, the Maxwell Award, the Walter Camp Award, and was named the AP College Football Player of the Year, along with the Manning Award, Davey O’Brien Award, Consensus All-American, and First-team All-SEC, all in 2010. Following this national championship, Newton declared for the 2011 NFL draft.

That year, he also received the NFL Offensive Player of the Year, First-team All-Pro, and Bert Bell Award, followed by the Best NFL Player ESPY Award in 2016. Newton began expanding his professional portfolio beyond the field in 2016, hosting “All in with Cam Newton.” Following stints with the New England Patriots in 2020 and a return to the Panthers in 2021, Newton retired from the NFL. Transitioning into content creation and entrepreneurship, he launched his highly successful YouTube channel in 2019, cultivating a significant audience. Further solidifying his business ventures, Newton opened his cigar bar and restaurant, Fellaship, in Atlanta in May 2019.

Continuing his career evolution into media, Newton joined ESPN as a football commentator in October 2024. Building on his expertise and engaging personality, his role expanded to feature regularly on ‘First Take’ in August 2025, further cementing his presence as a leading voice in sports media and entertainment.
