Charlotte Fry

Charlotte Fry, affectionately known as Lottie, was born on February 11, 1996, in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, England. She was introduced to dressage at a young age, as her late mother, Laura Fry, was an Olympic dressage rider who competed in the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. Charlotte received daily training from her mother throughout her childhood, riding a variety of horses from ponies to Grand Prix level.

From 2012, at the age of 16, Charlotte trained with Olympic champion Carl Hester, who helped her secure a position at Van Olst Horses in the Netherlands. She moved to Den Hout, Netherlands, in 2014, where she continues to be based, working and training with five-time Danish Olympian Anne Van Olst. This move marked a significant turning point in her career, providing her with extensive opportunities to ride and train numerous horses daily, from three-year-olds to Grand Prix competitors.

Charlotte’s senior career began to flourish in 2018 when she became World Champion at the World Championships for Young Dressage Horses in Ermelo, riding Glamourdale. In the same year, she won gold at the FEI Dressage U25 European Championships with Dark Legend. She earned her first senior team call-up in 2019, securing a trio of medals at the FEI U25 European Championships with Dark Legend. Her career has since seen her compete at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, where she won team bronze with Everdale, and achieve individual gold medals at the 2022 FEI Dressage World Championships in Herning with Glamourdale. In 2024, she secured an individual bronze medal and a team bronze medal at the Paris Summer Olympics.
