Chris Monty is one of America’s foremost stand-up comedians, with more than two decades’ experience of making audiences laugh. He also has an impressive sideline in acting—if you can call appearances in the major likes of Orange is the New Black, Vinyl, and Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 a side-line. His unique take on comedy draws on the cool and classic comics of the 1950s and 1960s, with influences including the likes of the Rat Pack. His material, however, is firmly planted in the modern world, as can be witnessed on his Amazon Prime stand-up special, What’s the Worst That Could Happen?
Monty’s career has seen him perform in some of America’s most hallowed areas. Not only has he opened for the likes of comic Joan River and blues legend B.B. King in Las Vegas, he has also written and starred in his own off-Broadway play, Shut Up, Sit Down & Eat, which opened at the Anne L. Bernstein Theatre in 2014 for a two-month run. He continues to be one of the country’s busiest stand-ups, with regular dates across the New York and New Jersey area. His stand-up has also found a television audience thanks to appearances on the likes of Gotham Comedy Live.
Monty’s film debut came in 2008 in a low-budget comedy horror film called Street of the Dead. His real break, however, came when he was cast as the Segway Employee in Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2, a film that grossed over $100 million worldwide. Among his most recent appearances is a guest role in NBC crime thriller The Blacklist, proving that Chris Monty is as versatile as he is funny.
