About

Born Christian Dannemann Eriksen on February 14, 1992, in Middelfart, Denmark, Eriksen began his football journey at a young age, following his father’s footsteps at the local club Middelfart G&BK. From 1995 to 2005, he developed his skills there, and his talent was evident early on as his youth team achieved an undefeated season in the local championship. In 2005, he moved to OB, where his technical ability, including dribbling and free-kick techniques, earned recognition from coaches. His exceptional youth performance attracted attention from major European clubs like Chelsea and Barcelona, but Eriksen ultimately chose Ajax, believing it was the best environment for his development.

Eriksen’s professional career began with Ajax in 2010 at age 18. He quickly integrated into the first team, making his Eredivisie debut in January 2010 and scoring his first goal for the club later that year in the Dutch Cup. During his time at Ajax (2010-2013), he won three Eredivisie titles and the KNVB Cup, and his consistent form led to him being named Danish Talent of the Year in 2010 and 2011, and Ajax’s Talent of the Year in 2011. He moved to Tottenham Hotspur in 2013 for £11 million, where he continued to excel, becoming a two-time club Player of the Year and part of the 2017-18 PFA Team of the Year. He also reached the 2019 UEFA Champions League final with Tottenham, showcasing his playmaking abilities and goal-scoring prowess repeatedly. Following his successful tenure at Tottenham, Eriksen joined Inter Milan in 2020, winning a Serie A title, demonstrating his continued impact at the highest level of European football.

Throughout his career, Eriksen has been recognized for his vision, passing range, and ability to create chances, often categorized as a classic number ten. His resilience and dedication were notably highlighted when he returned to professional football in 2022 after suffering a cardiac arrest during UEFA Euro 2020, requiring an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator. He played for Brentford for a short period before joining Manchester United in 2022, where he contributed to an FA Cup and EFL Cup win. In 2025, he moved to VfL Wolfsburg. Internationally, Eriksen has made over 140 appearances for Denmark, participating in multiple FIFA World Cups and UEFA European Championships, and currently holds the record for most international caps for his country.
