United States Cory Thiesse, an Olympian curler from Duluth, Minnesota, has consistently demonstrated excellence in both women's and mixed doubles curling, representing the United States in numerous international competitions and securing multiple national and world titles.
Cory Thiesse and Korey Dropkin are the first curlers officially named to the 2026 U.S. Olympic Team, having locked in Team USA's mixed position after their performance at the World Mixed Doubles Championship.
Cory Thiesse (née Christensen) was born on December 1, 1994, in Duluth, Minnesota. She began her curling journey at the St. Paul Curling Club, quickly establishing herself as a talented and strategic player in the sport. Her mother, Linda Christensen, also competed for Team USA in curling, indicating a familial connection to the sport. Thiesse’s early career saw her participate in various national and international junior competitions. She attended the University of Minnesota Duluth, where she studied exercise science, and she works as a lab technician outside of her curling career. Thiesse’s dedication to curling extends to community involvement, as she is committed to growing the sport at the grassroots level and fostering the next generation of curlers, often volunteering at her local curling club.
Her career highlights include multiple national championships and significant international appearances. Thiesse was part of the US team at the Olympic Games Pyeongchang 2018, finishing 8th in women’s team curling. She has consistently competed in World Championships, participating in Mixed Doubles in 2019, 2023, and 2025, and Women’s Team events in 2017, 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025. A notable achievement includes winning a gold medal at the World Mixed Doubles Championship in 2023 with partner Korey Dropkin, a first for the United States. She also earned a bronze medal in the same event in 2019 with John Shuster. Thiesse has also achieved four U.S. Women’s National Championships in 2021, 2023, 2024 and 2025 as well as two U.S. Mixed Doubles Championships in 2019 and 2023.
In 2025, Thiesse, alongside Korey Dropkin, secured their qualification for the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026 in Mixed Doubles. This marks Thiesse’s second Olympic appearance, her first in a mixed doubles discipline. Her perseverance and consistent performance have earned her recognition, including being named USA Curling’s Female Athlete of the Year in 2016 and part of USA Curling’s 2019 Team of the Year. Thiesse’s journey reflects a sustained commitment to competitive curling, from her early days in Duluth to her current status as an Olympian and world champion.
