Mark Watt is a British curler from Perthshire in the United Kingdom. A member of Team Craik, Watt secured a bronze medal at the 2020 World Junior Curling Championships in Krasnoyarsk, Russia, where he had the pleasure of playing at his favorite curling rink: the Crystal Ice Arena. He also competed at the Scottish Junior Championships in 2020. He currently plays for Dunning Curling Club.
Hailing from a family of successful curlers, Watt’s father Iain Watt was the 1990 Scottish Junior Champion and a silver medallist at the 1990 World Junior Curling Championships. His sister Laura Watt is also an avid curler, winning the title of 2020 Scottish Junior Champion. His role model is the legendary Canadian curler John Morris, the two-time Olympic gold medallist.
Outside of curling, Watt has an active interest in cycling, Formula 1 racing and the British Touring Car Championship. Now that he is slowly but steadily making the transition from junior competitions to men’s, Watt is doing everything he can to step up his game and take the world of competitive curling by storm. His biggest dream is to compete at the World Championships and the Olympics, things that are well within his reach if he remains on his current trajectory! Watt is set to become one of the greatest curlers that Britain has ever produced, and is definitely one to watch as he enters the next phase of his career.
