Courtney Lawes is an English professional rugby union player known for his significant contributions to the Northampton Saints, the England national team, and the British & Irish Lions, having achieved multiple titles and individual accolades throughout his career. After making his senior debut for Northampton Saints in October 2007 during the 200708 season, Courtney Lawes quickly established himself as a dominant force in professional rugby, helping the club secure promotion. The following season, he gained significant recognition for his formidable tackling ability, notably in the 2009 European Challenge Cup final against Bourgoin. Lawes was instrumental in the Saints’ victory in the Anglo-Welsh Cup in March 2010.
He was a vital part of the England squads that won the Six Nations Championship in 2016, 2017, and 2020, including a Grand Slam in 2016. Lawes reached his 50th cap for England in 2016, marking the occasion by scoring his first international try against South Africa. Further cementing his status as an elite international player, Lawes was selected for two British & Irish Lions tours, first to New Zealand in 2017 and then to South Africa in 2021, where he started all three tests at flanker against the Springboks. In November 2021, he notably captained England for the first time against Tonga.
Following this, Lawes transitioned to play for French club Brive.
