Damaris Phillips transitioned from culinary instructor to a recognized Food Network personality and chef.
GE Appliances brand launched a partnership with Celebrity Chef Damaris Phillips to bring “good things, for life” to kitchens across the country. In her new role as GE Appliances brand spokesperson and ambassador, Chef Damaris Phillips will create ongoing recipe and lifestyle content.
Celebrity Chef Damaris Phillips partnered with the Kentucky Derby to help fans create the ultimate race day experience at home. To kick off the partnership, Damaris curated an at-home menu of authentic Derby dishes to celebrate the culinary traditions of the Kentucky Derby.
Bluegrass Supper Club, co-owned by Chef Damaris Phillips and Coby Ming, partnered with Foxhollow Farm to provide picnics for their field to fork festival.
Damaris Phillips was born on December 8, 1980, in Lexington, Kentucky. Her culinary journey began with formal education at Jefferson Community and Technical College, where she earned a degree in Culinary Arts. She initially pursued a career as a culinary instructor, sharing her knowledge and passion for food. This foundation in culinary education provided her with a strong understanding of cooking techniques and flavors.
In 2013, Phillips gained national recognition as a contestant on the ninth season of Food Network’s “Food Network Star.” Her distinct Southern cooking style and personable approach resonated with viewers and judges. She successfully navigated the competition, filming a pilot for a potential series titled “Eat, Date, Love” as one of the final three contestants. On August 11, 2013, Damaris Phillips was announced as the winner of “Food Network Star.”
Winning “Food Network Star” led to the development and hosting of her own show, “Southern at Heart,” which premiered on October 27, 2013. The show ran for five seasons until 2016, primarily focusing on Southern cuisine. Her career further progressed with co-hosting roles: first “The Bobby and Damaris Show” with Bobby Flay starting in September 2017, and then “Southern and Hungry” with Rutledge Wood, her brother-in-law, which premiered in October 2017 on Cooking Channel. Phillips also frequently appears on “Guy’s Grocery Games,” serving as both a judge and a competitor, often raising money for charity, particularly for the story program in Louisville, Kentucky.
