Dr. Dambisa Moyo was born in 1969 in Lusaka in the African nation of Zambia. She is best known for being an author and an international economist. She specialises in the analysis of global affairs and the macroeconomy, which focuses on topics such as inflation, national income and the rate of national growth.
Despite being born in Zambia, Moyo spent a considerable amount of time of her childhood in the United States, which was where her father was studying. She would eventually attain herself a degree from the US, receiving a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the American University after earlier leaving the University of Zambia. Following on from her bachelors, she would then attain an MBA in finance from the same university in 1993. However, her education was far from over, she would receive an MPA (Master of Public Administration) from the prestigious Harvard University in 1997 and finally a Doctorate in Economics from top British university Oxford.
Her career in finance would begin with a spell working at the World Bank as a consultant. She would then go on to join Wall Street bank Goldman Sachs in 2001 where she was an economist and strategist until 2009. Now is when her board memberships would start, she joined the board of directors at SABMiller, one of the worlds leading brewers. She would also join the board of directors at British bank Barclays in 2010, there she currently sits on three different boards with these being the Audit Committee, the Conductional, Operational and Risk Committee, and finally the Financial Risk committee.
