Damir Mikec

A decorated Olympic medalist, Damir Mikec has established himself as a dominant force in sport shooting, specializing in 10m Air Pistol and 50m Pistol events for Serbia. After making a strong international impression with a 6th place finish at the 2007 World Cup #1 Rifle, Pistol in Fort Benning, USA, Mikec made his Olympic debut representing Serbia at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. There, he reached the final in the 50m pistol event, finishing 7th, and placed 13th in the 10m air pistol. Building on this early success, he secured a silver medal in 50m pistol at the 2009 ISSF World Cup in Munich.

Mikec’s consistent performance propelled him to the world’s number one ranking in his discipline ahead of the 2012 Summer Olympics, where he competed in London, finishing 17th in 10m air pistol and 16th in 50m pistol. Mikec continued to demonstrate his prowess, earning two gold medals at the 2015 European Games in both the 10m Air Pistol and 50m Pistol events. His enduring dedication to the sport is underscored by consistent performances across more than five Olympic cycles, solidifying his status as a prominent figure in international shooting. Over the course of his illustrious career, Mikec has accumulated an impressive total of 30 gold, 34 silver, and 17 bronze medals across various elite competitions, including World Championships, World Cup Finals, European Games, European Championships, and Mediterranean Games.

Most recently, at the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics, Mikec secured an Olympic gold medal in the mixed 10m Air Pistol team event. Partnering with Zorana Arunovi?, the duo showcased exceptional resilience by overcoming an 8-2 deficit in the final to claim victory, adding a career-highlight Olympic gold to his extensive collection.
