Daniel Goodfellow, born on October 19, 1996, in Cambridge, England, began his diving career at a young age, showcasing early talent at the ASA National Age Group Championships in 2007, where he secured gold medals in the 10m platform, 3m, and 1m springboard events. His potential was recognized with a selection to the Great Britain development squad in 2012. Goodfellow’s progression continued as he moved to Plymouth to train in 2013, joining Plymouth Diving Club, marking a significant step in his competitive journey.
Goodfellow made his senior international debut in 2013 at the European Diving Championships and the World Aquatics Championships. His career saw a significant turning point in 2016 when he partnered with Tom Daley, securing a bronze medal in the 10m synchronised platform event at the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics. This achievement followed a successful series of FINA Diving World Cup events where the duo consistently medaled. He continued to achieve success, including a gold medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games with Tom Daley and a silver medal at the 2019 World Aquatics Championships with Jack Laugher.
His career culminated in significant individual and team successes, such as a gold medal in the men’s 3m springboard at the 2022 Commonwealth Games and a World Championship title in the team event in 2024. Goodfellow’s career reflects consistent performance at the highest levels of competitive diving. He officially retired from the sport in 2025.
