David Bedingham

David Guy Bedingham was born on April 22, 1994. He commenced his first-class cricket career with Northerns in the 2012–13 CSA Provincial Three-Day Competition on March 14, 2013. Early in his career, he demonstrated consistent performance, becoming the leading run-scorer for Boland in both the 2017–18 CSA Provincial One-Day Challenge with 283 runs in seven matches, and the 2017–18 Sunfoil 3-Day Cup with 790 runs in eight matches. His talent was further recognized in June 2018, when he was named in the Cape Cobras squad for the 2018–19 season, and in September 2018, for Boland’s squad in the 2018 Africa T20 Cup.

Bedingham’s career progressed with various team affiliations, including the Cape Town Blitz in the 2019 Mzansi Super League and Western Province in the 2019–20 CSA Provincial T20 Cup. In 2020, he signed with Durham, showcasing his skills in English county cricket. A significant achievement in his domestic career occurred in April 2021, when he scored his maiden double century in first-class cricket, achieving 257 runs for Durham in the 2021 County Championship. This period also saw him join the Birmingham Phoenix for The Hundred tournament in 2021. Throughout these engagements, Bedingham consistently contributed with his batting, particularly in the middle order.

David Bedingham made his long-awaited international debut for South Africa in the 2023/24 two-match Test series against India. In his debut match at Centurion, he scored his maiden Test half-century, contributing 56 runs off 87 balls. He continued his international career by representing South Africa in a Test series against New Zealand in 2024, where he achieved his maiden Test century, scoring 110 runs off 141 balls in the second Test. Bedingham was also a member of the South African team that won the 2025 ICC World Test Championship final.
