About

David Norman Greene, born on June 22, 1982, in Snellville, Georgia, established himself as a distinguished athlete early in his career. While attending South Gwinnett High School, he excelled in both football as a quarterback and baseball as a right fielder. His senior football season saw him complete 134 passes out of 227 attempts for 2,102 yards and 19 touchdowns, earning him numerous accolades including USA Today All-USA Honorable Mention honors and The Atlanta Journal-Constitution Super 11 honors. He led his team to consecutive playoff appearances and participated in the Georgia-Florida All-Star game.

Greene continued his football career at the University of Georgia, where he became a starting quarterback as a redshirt freshman in 2001. A significant moment in his college career was the “Hobnail Boot” game against #5 Tennessee in October 2001, where he led the Bulldogs to a last-minute victory. He guided the team to a Sugar Bowl victory in 2002 and their first SEC championship since 1982 in the same year. His collegiate achievements include being named SEC Freshman of the Year in 2001 and SEC Offensive Player of the Year in 2002. Notably, Greene set an NCAA Division I record for the most wins by a quarterback with 42 career victories, a record later surpassed by Colt McCoy in 2009. He also held the Southeastern Conference all-time career leader title in yards gained with 11,270 until 2013.

Following a successful college career, Greene was selected by the Seattle Seahawks in the third round of the 2005 NFL Draft as the 85th overall pick. He spent the 2005 and 2006 seasons with the Seahawks, primarily as a third-string quarterback. In 2007, he had brief stints with the New England Patriots’ practice squad and was later added to the Kansas City Chiefs’ active roster. He concluded his professional football career after being signed and released from the Indianapolis Colts’ practice squad in 2008. After retiring from professional football in January 2009, Greene transitioned into the business world, joining Sterling Seacrest Partners, an insurance brokerage firm, alongside former teammate Matt Stinchcomb. He also explored media opportunities, appearing on MLB Network’s “The Next Knuckler.”
