David Daniel Otunga is a former professional wrestler from the United States. He works for the WWE as a color commentator and panelist. In the first season of NXT, he came in second place. He won two WWE Tag Team Championships with fellow Nexus members and superstar wrestlers John Cena and Michael McGillicutty.
In 2008 Otunga signed a contract with World Wrestling Entertainment, officially begin his professional wrestling career. He made his debut in 2009, under the ring name Dawson Alexander, in a six-man tag team match. He appeared in both Raw and SmackDown on dark matches which are meant to excite the audience in unaired warm-up matches. This lead to his opportunity to appear in the first season of NXT under his real name. He has the unique distinction of having been the only founding member of both The Nexus and The New Nexus to appear throughout both franchises.
In addition to his career in wrestling, Otunga is a lawyer and an actor. His background in law was even incorporated into his character in wrestling. He appeared on reality TV in the dating show I Love New York 2, as well as appearing as himself on the soap opera General Hospital, Celebrity Ghost Stories, and several talk shows. Otunga has also appeared in the films “The Call,” “What Happen Last Night,” “Days Like This,” and “A Madea Family Funeral.” Otunga has a large social media following.
