Born on March 12, 1990, in Nowy Targ, Poland, Dawid Kubacki began his international ski jumping career in 2005. He made his FIS Cup debut in Bischofshofen in September 2005 and scored his first FIS Ski Jumping World Cup points in Harrachov in January 2006, finishing 22nd. By March 2007, he was competing in the Continental Cup, indicating a steady progression in his early career. Kubacki has represented Poland in multiple Winter Olympic Games, including 2014, 2018, and 2022, securing two bronze medals. His career highlights include becoming the 2019 World Champion on the normal hill and winning the 2019-20 Four Hills Tournament.
Throughout his career, Kubacki has achieved significant team successes. He earned a bronze medal in the large hill team competition at the 2013 World Championships with teammates Kamil Stoch, Maciej Kot, and Piotr Żyła. His team also secured Poland’s first-ever team competition victory in December 2016 in Klingenthal, followed by a second team win in Willingen in January 2017. A major milestone arrived in March 2017 when the Polish national team, again including Kubacki, earned their first World Champions title in the team event at Lahti, Finland. He also contributed to Poland’s first ski flying team medal, a bronze, at the 2018 Ski Flying World Championships in Oberstdorf, and an Olympic bronze in the team event at the 2018 Pyeongchang Games.
Beyond team events, Kubacki has built an impressive individual record. The 2017 summer season was particularly strong, with five victories in nine competitions, leading him to win the overall classification of the 2017 FIS Ski Jumping Grand Prix. This success translated into the winter season, where he achieved his first individual World Cup podium in Oberstdorf in December 2017. He has since accumulated 11 individual World Cup victories and 38 individual podium finishes, consistently ranking among the top ski jumpers globally.
