Dellin Betances

Dellin Betances distinguished himself as the only reliever in MLB history to record at least 100 strikeouts in five consecutive seasons, a remarkable streak spanning from 2014 to 2018. His impressive professional journey began when he was named an Aflac All-American in 2005, making him the first player from New York City to receive this honor. During his junior year of high school, Betances consistently threw a fastball at 90 miles per hour, also playing for the Team USA Junior National Team. After committing to Vanderbilt University, he chose to sign with the New York Yankees following his selection in the eighth round of the 2006 MLB draft, securing a significant $1 million signing bonus.

After an impactful tenure with the New York Yankees, Betances signed with the New York Mets in 2019. Following a brief period with the Mets, he later joined the Los Angeles Dodgers organization in 2022. Betances ultimately retired from professional baseball in 2022, concluding a career marked by his high strikeout capability and his impactful presence as a dominant relief pitcher across multiple esteemed MLB franchises.
