Eleanor Matsuura

Eleanor Matsuura was born in Tokyo, Japan, and subsequently raised in Hertfordshire, England. She pursued her acting training at the Central School of Speech and Drama in London, graduating in 2004. Early in her career, Matsuura established a foundation in theatre, performing at notable venues such as the Royal Court Theatre, Old Vic Theatre, and various West End productions. She also began appearing in British television dramas, including roles in “EastEnders,” “Holby City,” and “Doctor Who,” concurrently with British film projects.

Her career progressed with various significant roles. She was cast as Hannah Santo in “Spooks: The Greater Good” and Bev in the British series “Utopia.” In television, she played PC Donna Prager in “Cuffs.” Matsuura further expanded her acting portfolio by featuring as Detective Inspector Hopkins in the fourth series of the BBC One drama “Sherlock.” She also contributed her voice talents to video games such as “Mass Effect: Andromeda” and “Dreamfall Chapters,” showcasing her range across different mediums. A pivotal role in her career came with her portrayal of Yumiko in “The Walking Dead,” a character based on the comic book series.

Beyond her acting work, Matsuura is actively involved as an animal rights supporter, collaborating with organizations like the Battersea Dogs and Cats Home. She is married to Canadian actor Trevor White, and they reside in London with their child.
