About

Eric Stonestreet was born on September 9, 1971, in Kansas City, Kansas. He pursued a degree in sociology at Kansas State University, graduating in 1996. While in college, he unexpectedly discovered his passion for acting after auditioning for a play on a dare. This led him to further his studies in improvisational theatre at ImprovOlympic and The Second City Training Center in Chicago before relocating to Los Angeles to pursue a professional acting career. His early aspirations included becoming a clown, even creating a character named Fizbo, a name that would later reappear in his comedic work.

Stonestreet’s career began with smaller roles across film and television. He made his film debut in ‘Almost Famous’ (2000) as Sheldon the Desk Clerk. His television appearances included guest roles in productions such as ‘Dharma & Greg’ (1999), ‘ER’ (2000), ‘Malcolm in the Middle’ (2000), and a recurring role as Ronnie Litre on ‘CSI: Crime Scene Investigation’ (2001–2005). These early experiences provided a foundation for his later success, showcasing his versatility in both dramatic and comedic capacities. He also appeared in movies like ‘Bad Teacher’ (2011) and ‘Identity Thief’ (2013).

His breakthrough came with the role of Cameron Tucker in the ABC sitcom ‘Modern Family’ (2009–2020), a performance that garnered him two Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series and four Screen Actors Guild Awards for Outstanding Ensemble in a Comedy Series. Beyond ‘Modern Family,’ he ventured into voice acting as Duke in ‘The Secret Life of Pets’ film franchise (2016–2019) and hosted television shows like ‘The Toy Box’ (2017) and ‘Domino Masters’ (2022). More recently, he took on a main role in ‘The Santa Clauses’ (2023) and has secured several brand partnerships, expanding his influence beyond acting.
