Petrolhead Felipe Massa is a professional racing driver, who competed in 15 seasons of Formula 1 between 2002 and 2017, claiming 11 Grand Prix victories and 41 podium finishes. He has also competed in Formula E, and in the Brazilian Stock Car Pro Series.
Born and raised in São Paulo, Brazil, Massa began karting when he was eight-years-old, and finished fourth in his first racing season. He spent the next seven years competing in national and regional championships, before moving up to Formula Chevrolet and claiming the championship. He then progressed to Italian Formula Renault in 2000, winning the title and the European championship. He took the championship of Euro Formula 3000 in 2001, and the following year began competing in Formula 1.
Massa started out with Sauber, making his F1 debut at the 2002 Australian Grand Prix, before spending a year as a test driver for Scuderia Ferrari. Then in 2004 he returned to Sauber. In 2006 he went back to Ferrari, winning his first Grand Prix in Turkey, and in 2008 became the first Brazilian to win his home Grand Prix since Ayrton Senna had done so in 1991. He clocked up a further nine Grand Prix wins until he retired from F1 at the end of the 2017 season. He then concentrated on Formula E, racing until the end of the 2019-20 Championship, before moving on to compete in the Stock Car Brasil series.
