About

Fraser Doherty, born in 1988 in Edinburgh, Scotland, began his entrepreneurial journey at a young age. At 14, he started making jam using his grandmother’s recipes, which he sold at local farmers’ markets and to delicatessens. This early initiative led to the founding of SuperJam. By the age of 16, Doherty secured a deal with Waitrose, becoming their youngest supplier in 2007, a significant milestone that brought SuperJam to national supermarket shelves. This initial breakthrough propelled SuperJam’s growth, with its products eventually being stocked in major UK chains including Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Morrisons, and Asda, generating approximately £1 million in annual turnover.

Despite challenges, such as SuperJam being delisted by some supermarkets over the years, Fraser Doherty continued to expand his business ventures. SuperJam found new success in international markets, particularly in South Korea, which became its largest market, and Japan, where a TV drama was created about his story. In 2014, he was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for services to business. His entrepreneurial spirit extended beyond jam, leading him to co-found Beer52, a craft beer club, with James Brown. Additionally, before his exit in 2015, Doherty co-founded Envelope Coffee, a subscription service delivering coffee directly from growers to customers. He has also authored three books: ‘The SuperJam Cookbook’ (2010), ‘SuperBusiness’ (2011), and ’48-Hour Start-up: From idea to launch in 1 weekend’ (2016).

Beyond his business achievements, Fraser Doherty is an active motivational speaker, addressing audiences at various business conferences and universities globally, including corporations like RBS and Unilever. He also established The SuperJam Tea Parties, a registered Scottish charity in 2008, which organizes events for elderly individuals to combat loneliness. His work in the entrepreneurial space earned him the Global Student Entrepreneur of the Year award in 2007, and he is a Visiting Professor at London Metropolitan University.
