Giancarlo Stanton

Giancarlo Stanton was born on November 8, 1989, in Panorama City, California. He attended Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks, California, excelling as a three-sport athlete in baseball, basketball, and football. Stanton was drafted by the Florida Marlins in the 2nd round of the 2007 MLB June Amateur Draft and chose to sign with the team rather than pursue college scholarships for baseball at Tulane or football at UCLA, UNLV, and USC. He quickly progressed through the minor league system, showcasing significant power hitting capabilities. Throughout his career, Stanton has been recognized for his athletic prowess and consistent performance in professional baseball.

Stanton made his Major League Baseball debut with the Florida Marlins on June 8, 2010. During his tenure with the Marlins, he rapidly established himself as a prominent power hitter, notably leading the National League in home runs in 2014 and again in 2017, the latter year earning him the National League Most Valuable Player Award. In 2014, he signed a record-setting 13-year, $325 million contract with the Marlins, which at the time was the most lucrative contract in sports history. This period also saw him earning two Silver Slugger Awards and two NL Hank Aaron Awards.

In December 2017, Stanton was traded to the New York Yankees, where he continues to be a key offensive player. He earned the American League Championship Series MVP award in 2024, leading the Yankees to their first American League pennant since 2009. Stanton is a five-time MLB All-Star and has also represented the United States in the World Baseball Classic where he won a gold medal in 2017.
