Gianna Yanelli embarked on her professional acting career after completing her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theater at Texas State University. Her dedication to singing, acting, and dancing across various styles laid the groundwork for her subsequent successes in the theater industry. Early in her career, Yanelli gained regional experience, taking on roles such as Annette in “Saturday Night Fever” and Hodel in “Fiddler on the Roof,” the latter earning her a Barrymore nomination. She also portrayed the title role in “Junie B. Jones,” showcasing her versatility and commitment to a wide range of characters.
Yanelli made her Broadway debut in the original cast of “Mean Girls,” which opened on April 8, 2018. In this production, she performed as part of the ensemble and served as an understudy for the role of Janis Sarkisian. Her time with “Mean Girls” included notable performances at major events such as the Tony Awards, the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, and on “Saturday Night Live,” which provided significant exposure for her burgeoning career. She departed from the production on March 8, 2020.
Following her successful run in “Mean Girls,” Gianna Yanelli joined the Broadway cast of “SIX: The Musical,” where she took on the role of Anne Boleyn as a replacement, arriving on February 19, 2025. Her career has also extended to television, with an appearance on “Law and Order: SVU.” Yanelli continues to engage with various theatrical projects and maintains a presence in the New York performance scene.
