Guenther Steiner first showcased his impactful leadership in motorsports in 1997, managing Prodrive’s Allstar Rally team and leading Krzysztof Ho?owczyc to win the European Rally Championship. This success followed his foundational experience as a mechanic with Mazda Rally Team Europe (1986-1988), Assistant Team Manager for Top Run Srl (1989-1990), and Technical Manager at Jolly Club (1991-1996). Joining M-Sport as a Project Manager in 1998, he was promoted to Director of Engineering in 2000, where he spearheaded the Ford World Rally Team, working with drivers like Colin McRae and Carlos Sainz to achieve consecutive runner-up finishes in the 2000 and 2001 World Rally Championships. Steiner transitioned to Formula One in 2001 as Managing Director for Jaguar Racing, where he successfully reorganized the team and implemented cost-reduction strategies until 2003.
As its inaugural Team Principal from 2016 until 2023, Steiner led Haas to become the first American constructor in 30 years to compete in F1, achieving a notable milestone by scoring points in their debut race in 2016. Following his tenure with Haas, Steiner authored the acclaimed book ‘Surviving to Drive: A year inside Formula 1,’ released in 2023, and ‘Unfiltered: My Incredible Decade in Formula 1,’ released in October 2024. Currently, Steiner is a sought-after pundit and commentator for various F1 broadcasters, including signing as a specialist commentator for RTL in 2024. In April 2024, he was appointed race ambassador for the prestigious Miami Grand Prix.
Looking ahead, Steiner will make a full-scale return to team leadership and mark his entry into motorcycle racing management as the head of a consortium acquiring the Red Bull KTM Tech3 MotoGP team, an announcement made in September 2025.
