Hamish McLachlan

Hamish McLachlan, as General Manager of the Events and Entertainment Division at Elite Sports Properties (ESP) from 1998 to 2002, was centrally involved in the production of major international sporting events, including the 2000 Summer Olympics, 2002 Winter Olympics, 2002 FIFA World Cup, and the 2002 Commonwealth Games. In 2004, McLachlan became a director of the Australian Football Hall of Fame and Sensation exhibition in Melbourne, concurrently co-founding Spyglass Management, which held the exhibition’s license. In January 2008, McLachlan transitioned into his media career by joining the Seven Network. He became a prominent figure in Australian tennis coverage, focusing on the Australian Open, where he conducted live interviews and filmed segments.

By 2015, he was calling Sunday afternoon matches alongside Dennis Cometti and later Brian Taylor. He also hosted the network’s popular Friday night telecasts, providing comprehensive pre-game and post-game analysis. Beyond AFL, McLachlan has been an integral part of the Seven Network’s Olympic and Commonwealth Games coverage team, hosting for the 2016 Summer Olympics, 2018 Winter Olympics, and 2018 Commonwealth Games. From 2018 to 2019, he co-hosted the sports entertainment series ‘Australian Spartan’ and hosted the Brownlow Medal Count and Coverage in 2019.

In 2020, McLachlan hosted the AFL digital series ‘The Last Time I Cried’. He transitioned to co-commentating Saturday night AFL matches in 2021 and Thursday night AFL matches from 2022. He continued his hosting duties for major international sporting events, covering the 2022 Winter Olympics and 2022 Commonwealth Games for Seven Network. McLachlan also established Ten Goals, a media and production unit focused on sports broadcasting, and has contributed written content to the Herald Sun newspaper.
