American outfielder Haylie McCleney plays professionally in softball. She represented Alabama in college softball. She won a silver medal while representing the United States in the 2020 Summer Olympics. Her most recent softball league participation was in Athletes Unlimited.
From 2013 to 2016, McCleney competed for Alabama in college softball, winning three First Team All-SEC awards and being named to the Second Team. The National Fastpitch Coaches Association also named her to their Second Team and three First Team All-Americans. McCleney would finish her career as a member of the elite 300 hits, 200 runs, 100 stolen bases, 400 average club, as well as with the Alabama career batting crown. She participated in the Athletes Unlimited Softball league’s debut season.
Since 2013, McCleney has competed for the American women’s national softball team. She won a silver medal while representing Team USA in the 2020 Summer Olympics. With nine hits and four runs in six games, she topped Team USA in hits throughout the 2020 Olympics, batting .529 overall with the most hits in the competition. She was held scoreless at the plate as Team USA lost to Team Japan 2-0 in the gold medal match. She was selected for the WBSC All-Olympic Softball team after the competition. Kylee Hanson, a former Florida State softball pitcher, and McCleney are engaged. The couple got hitched in February 2019.
