Canada Hilary Farr is a British-Canadian designer, businesswoman, television host, and former actress known for her work on HGTV's "Love It or List It" and her extensive career in home renovation and design.

Born Hilary Elizabeth Labow on August 31, 1951, in Toronto, Canada, Farr was raised in London, England. She attended the Royal Ballet School until the age of 11, initially aspiring to become a ballerina. Her early interest in theater, combined with assisting her mother in decorating their childhood home, introduced her to interior design. Farr began her professional career in Los Angeles by purchasing and renovating homes, while also working as a film and television set designer. During this period, she took on minor acting roles under the name Hilary Labow, appearing in films such as “Layout for 5 Models” (1972), “Sex Farm” (1973), and “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” (1975). She also performed in a stage production of “Grease” in London in 1973.
Farr continued to develop her career in home renovation and design, undertaking projects in Australia, the United Kingdom, California, New York, and Toronto. She designed and renovated properties for notable individuals, including Jenna Elfman and Jennifer Hudson. A significant turning point in her career occurred in 2008 when she returned to Toronto after a divorce. She was subsequently signed as a co-host for “Love It or List It” by W Network, Big Coat Productions, and Corus Entertainment, alongside David Visentin. The show, which premiered in 2010, became a popular program broadcast on HGTV and W Network, establishing Farr as a household name in home design.
Throughout her tenure on “Love It or List It,” Farr expanded her television presence by serving as a judge on W Network’s “Search for the Next W Expert 2010” and making guest appearances at various events, including the Canadian International Interior Design Show. She also became a regular contributor to The Huffington Post. In 2016, she appeared in Ross Petty’s stage production of “Sleeping Beauty” as Malignicent at the Elgin Theatre in Toronto. In 2017, Farr co-founded Rules of Renovation, a seminar series aimed at aspiring real estate investors. She left “Love It or List It” in 2023, citing a desire to pursue new challenges, including her solo show “Tough Love with Hilary Farr” and personal renovation projects.
