Hitomi Kawabata

Hitomi Kawabata is an Olympic gold medalist and World Champion in softball, renowned for her skills as an infielder. After securing a silver medal at the 2016 Women’s Softball World Championship, Hitomi Kawabata established herself as a formidable infielder on the international stage. Building on this initial success, Kawabata continued her impressive medal streak, earning a gold medal at the 2017 Asian Women’s Softball Championship held in Taichung. Her consistent high-level performance quickly solidified her reputation as a key player for her national team, showcasing exceptional skill and strategic play in the field.

Kawabata’s ascent continued with a remarkable 2018 season, where she clinched another gold medal at the Asian Games in Jakarta-Palembang. Later that year, she added a silver medal at the Women’s Softball World Championship in Chiba, further demonstrating her ability to perform under pressure in elite global competitions. The momentum carried into 2019, as Kawabata secured another gold medal at the Asian Women’s Softball Championship in Jakarta. These consecutive achievements culminated in her prestigious selection to represent Japan at the highly anticipated Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics.

In a recent season, she led the JD.League in batting average, hitting an impressive .457 through the first 12 games, recording 16 hits in 35 at-bats, including two home runs. Kawabata has also achieved the significant milestone of 200 career hits in the JD.League, cementing her status as one of the league’s most consistent and impactful offensive players.
