About

Jacob Artist was born on October 17, 1992, to Darrell and Judith Artist. He grew up in Buffalo and Williamsville, New York. Of African-American and Polish descent, Artist developed an early interest in dance, leading to an acceptance at the prestigious Juilliard School. However, he chose to defer this opportunity to pursue an acting career in Los Angeles, where he quickly began to establish his presence in the entertainment industry. This decision marked a significant turning point in his early career.

Artist gained recognition for his role as Jake Puckerman in the Fox musical comedy-drama series “Glee.” He was cast in 2012, appearing initially in a recurring capacity during the fourth season before being promoted to the main cast for the fifth season. During his tenure on “Glee” from 2012 to 2015, he appeared in 43 episodes, showcasing his singing and dancing abilities. Following “Glee,” Artist took on the role of Brandon Fletcher in ABC’s drama-thriller series “Quantico,” appearing in 14 episodes between 2015 and 2016. His film credits include “White Bird in a Blizzard” (2014) and “Blood Money” (2017), co-starring with John Cusack and Ellar Coltrane. He also made a guest appearance in “American Horror Story: Roanoke” in 2016.

His career has included collaborations with notable filmmakers, such as Gregg Araki, with whom he worked on “White Bird in a Blizzard” (2014) and the short film “Here Now” (2015). This partnership continued with a recurring role as Isaac in Araki’s surreal comedy series “Now Apocalypse” (2019), where Artist appeared in four episodes. He further showcased his versatility in the 2020 coming-of-age comedy “The Get Together.” Artist’s work demonstrates a consistent engagement with various television and film projects since his debut, solidifying his career path in acting.
