Super Bowl winner Jamal Perry is a cornerback for the Miami Dolphins. In 2017, Perry joined the Philadelphia Eagles as an undrafted free agent, shortly before being acquired by the New England Patriots. Perry won his ring when the New England Patriots defeated the Los Angeles Rams 13-3 at Super Bowl LIII in 2018.
Perry played football at Trinity Valley Community College in Athens, Texas. In his two seasons, they went 12-0 and were rated second in 2014 after finishing 10-2, and fifth in 2013. He was named to the first team of the SWJCFC for his stellar performances in his second season. After spending two years at Trinity Valley, Perry received interest from California, Tulsa, and UNLV before deciding to enrol at Iowa State. During that recruiting cycle, ESPN ranked him as junior college football’s eighth-best cornerback. He participated in all 12 of the games during his first year at ISU, starting seven of them, and he started 11 of the 12 games he played in 2016. The highlights of Perry’s season included seven tackles against Oklahoma, eight against UNI, and a game-winning interception against Kansas. He was named honourable mention All-Big 12 and received the Al and Dean Knudson Award as the team’s top defensive player at the end of the campaign. He was also given the opportunity to participate in the College Gridiron Showcase.
Perry signed a contract with the Miami Dolphins in February 2019. In week 1 of 2019 against the Baltimore Ravens, he began his first NFL game and made his first tackle. Perry made his first career interception off Sam Darnold in week 9’s 26-18 victory over the New York Jets. In March 2020, Perry officially changed his name from Jomal Wiltz to Jamal Perry.
