Jaylen Johnson

Jaylen Rashawn Ziyad Johnson was born on August 7, 1996, in Ypsilanti, Michigan. His mother, Janetta Johnson, was a collegiate basketball player at the University of Wisconsin, where she set records for blocked shots. Jaylen Johnson attended Ypsilanti High School, where he excelled in basketball, averaging 13.6 points, 9.6 rebounds, 5.3 blocks, and 4.1 assists per game in his senior year. He achieved a triple-double with 20 points, 10 rebounds, and 11 assists in a Class A district title game and was named the Ann Arbor News Washtenaw County Player of the Year. Johnson also participated in prestigious events like the LeBron James Skills Academy and the Pangos All-American Camp.

Johnson committed to the University of Louisville, playing for the Cardinals men’s basketball team from 2014 to 2017. During his college career, he made 88 appearances, starting 22 games in his sophomore season and 26 as a junior. He averaged 5.2 points and 3.8 rebounds over his tenure. His most productive collegiate season was his junior year (2016–17), where he averaged 8.0 points and 5.8 rebounds per game. Following his junior year, Johnson declared for the 2017 NBA draft but went undrafted, marking the beginning of his professional journey.

His professional career began with the Windy City Bulls in 2017, followed by stints with the Iowa Wolves in the NBA G League. Johnson also played internationally for Hapoel Holon in the Israeli Premier League in 2019. He was later drafted by the Motor City Cruise in the 2021 NBA G League draft, where he continued to develop his game, averaging 10.7 points and 6.5 rebounds in his final season with the team (2022-2023). Moving on, Johnson played for Nacional in Uruguay, helping them reach the championship finals, and then for the Taipei Mars in the T1 League from 2023 to 2024, also playing a role in their finals appearance. In 2024, he was drafted by Bivouac in the BIG3 league and subsequently joined Hapoel Haifa in Israel and Yalovaspor Basketbol in Turkey, demonstrating his adaptability and continuous pursuit of competitive basketball opportunities globally.
