Jocelyn Delk Adams founded her popular recipe blog, Grandbaby Cakes, in 2012, inspired by her grandmother, affectionately known as Big Mama. The blog serves as a platform to present classic desserts with modern adaptations, preserving their original charm. Her work has earned her recognition from critics and a broad audience of bakers. Adams’s approach combines accessible advice with detailed photography and personal stories of her family’s baking traditions.
Her career progressed with the publication of her debut cookbook, “Grandbaby Cakes: Modern Recipes, Vintage Charm, Soulful Memories,” released in September 2015. This book featured 50 cake recipes, blending traditional Southern flavors with contemporary twists. It garnered significant attention, being highlighted as a top fall cookbook by various publications and earning the Gourmand World Award 2016 for Best Blogger Cookbook USA. It was also nominated for an NAACP Image Award in 2016 for Outstanding Literary Instructional Work. Adams further established her presence with appearances on national television shows, including “The Kitchen” on Food Network, “TODAY Show,” and “Good Morning America,” where she demonstrated her baking skills and shared her family’s culinary heritage.
In March 2023, Adams released her second cookbook, “Everyday Grand: Soulful Recipes for Celebrating Life’s Big and Small Moments.” This publication was featured on numerous television programs and critical lists, including Amazon’s Best Books of 2023, and received a nomination for an NAACP Image Award in 2024 for Outstanding Literary Instructional Work. Beyond her cookbooks and blog, Adams has expanded into television hosting and judging roles, notably co-hosting “Stab That Cake” on Cooking Channel and Discovery Plus, and serving as a judge on Disney Plus’ “Magic Bake Off” and Food Network’s “Santa’s Baking Blizzard.” She also delivered a TED Talk in 2017 focusing on brand authenticity, and her expertise has been sought by various brands for ambassadorships and writing collaborations.
