Fast bowler Jofra Archer is an English cricketer who was born in Barbados and plays for England and Sussex. In April 2019, Archer was chosen to play for England in limited-overs games against Pakistan and Ireland. He was on the team that won the 2019 Cricket World Cup. Then, in the 2019 Ashes series against Australia, Archer played his first Test match. In 2020, he was among the Wisden Cricketers of the Year.
Archer made his first-class debut for Sussex in July 2016. Later that month, in the 2016 Royal London One-Day Cup against Gloucestershire, he made his List A debut. In the 2017 BPL season, Archer was bought by the Khulna Titans. He played for the Hobart Hurricanes in the Big Bash League in both 2017–18 and 2018–19. In the 2018 Pakistan Super League draft, he was picked up by the Quetta Gladiators to replace Carlos Brathwaite.
Archer was part of England’s 30-person squad that started training behind closed doors for the 2020 Test series against the West Indies. He had two operations in May and December 2021 to fix an elbow injury. This kept him off the international team for a year. Archer suffered a back stress fracture in May 2022, which meant he couldn’t play during the English summer for that year. He keeps up with his fans on Twitter @JofraArcher, where he boasts more than 625,000 followers.
