Jon St. John

Jon St. John, born on December 19, 1960, in Newport News, Virginia, began his career in the mid-1970s as a radio DJ in North Carolina. His vocal talent and technical skills quickly led him to production director roles at radio stations in major cities such as New Orleans, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Los Angeles, and San Diego. He also maintained a public persona as a radio personality, most recently at K-Earth 101 in Los Angeles. This extensive background in radio provided him with a strong foundation in vocal performance and audio production, which he later leveraged in the video game industry.

St. John’s career took a significant turn when he became a prolific voice actor for video games. He is most recognized for his gravelly voice as Duke Nukem, a role he originated in 1996 with “Duke Nukem 3D.” His portrayal of Duke Nukem became a defining aspect of the character and the franchise, influencing a generation of gamers. In addition to Duke Nukem, he has lent his voice to numerous other notable characters, including Big the Cat and E-123 Omega in the “Sonic the Hedgehog” video game franchise, Axe and Bloodseeker in “Dota 2,” and The Postal Dude in “Postal 4: No Regerts.” His work spans various genres and platforms, making him a recognizable presence in the gaming world.
