Jony Ive, a British-American designer, is best known for his influential work at Apple Inc., where he shaped iconic products. He now leads LoveFrom, a creative collective collaborating with global brands and venturing into AI hardware. After shaping a new era of product design during his tenure at Apple Inc., Jony Ive has established himself as one of the most influential designers of his generation. Ive joined Apple in September 1992, following experience at product design agency Roberts Weaver Group and London-based firm Tangerine, where he worked on projects for clients including LG and Ideal Standard.
His creative leadership extended beyond portable devices, influencing the design of the MacBook line and the visual interface of iOS, as well as overseeing major architectural projects such as Apple Park and Apple Stores. Ive acquired U.S. citizenship in 2012, and in 2015, he was promoted to the C-level executive position of Chief Design Officer. In July 2017, Ive assumed office as Chancellor of the Royal College of Art, a prestigious academic appointment.
In May 2025, a significant partnership was forged with OpenAI, which acquired Ives AI device startup ‘io’ for $6.5 billion, signaling a major venture into next-generation AI-powered computers. Further solidifying his influence in the cultural landscape, Ive was appointed a trustee of the British Museum in June 2025.
