Jordan Maron aka CaptainSparklez

The multi-talented Jordan Maron, who is better known online as CaptainSparklez, is a YouTuber, gamer, streamer, and musician. He is famous for playing the video game Minecraft, as well as for his Minecraft-themed songs and music videos. His YouTube channel boasts 11.4 million subscribers with close to 2 billion views.

Born and raised in Los Angeles, and then later in Santa Barbara, Maron attended the University of California to initially study chemical engineering. He had already begun to be a serious gamer, and so switched his major to computer science. However, as his YouTube profile exploded he dropped out of university to forge a career online. He created his first YouTube channel in 2010, which mainly concentrated on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, and as his popularity grew he began to stream on justin.tv which was later migrated to Twitch.tv. In 2016 he was featured in the Forbes 30 Under 30 list.

On the music side of things, Maron released his first Minecraft music video, TNT, in 2011. His most popular music video to date, Revenge – A Minecraft Parody of Usher’s DJ Got Us Fallin’ In Love, now boasts over 279 million views since it was first uploaded in 2011.
