After securing a third-place finish with the South Africa Under-20 squad at the 2015 World Rugby Under 20 Championship, Joseph Dweba continued to build a formidable professional rugby career, establishing himself as a distinguished Springbok international and a powerful hooker across top-tier leagues. His foundational years saw him represent the Golden Lions U16 in 2011, followed by the Golden Lions U18 team at the Craven Week competition in 2013.
