Matthias Casse

Matthias Casse has established himself as a leading judoka, achieving international recognition and Olympic success. After becoming the junior world champion in Zagreb in 2017 – a significant milestone as the first Belgian male judoka to achieve this title since Johan Laats in 1986 – Matthias Casse established himself as a dominant force in international judo. That same year, he earned his first senior-level Grand Prix medal, securing a bronze in The Hague, signaling his immediate impact on the senior circuit. Casse’s career continued its ascent in 2019, securing gold medals at both the European Games, which also served as the European Judo Championship, and the prestigious Judo World Masters.

He has also earned IJF Grand Slam silver medals in 2018, 2022, and 2023, and bronze medals in 2019 and 2025. Additionally, he secured an IJF Grand Prix gold in 2022, a silver in 2018, and bronze medals in 2017 and 2019, cementing his reputation as one of the sport’s most decorated and consistent judokas.
