Top pitching prospect Josiah Gray is a rising star of professional baseball who currently plays for the Washington Nationals of Major League Baseball (MLB). Already an excellent starting pitcher, the Nats youngster is tipped for greatness in the next few years. Drafted in the second round of the 2018 Major League Baseball draft by Cincinnati Reds, Gray previously enjoyed a stint at Los Angeles Dodgers and in his first season with the organization experienced a rocket-like ascent.
Recruited by Le Moyne College coming out of New Rochelle High in his native New York, Gray was brought in as a two-way player expected to serve as a closer and play shortstop. Ahead of his junior year Gray began to fill out becoming a stronger physical specimen, with the 6-foot-1 player gaining 30 pounds reaching 205. He began to focus solely on pitching as a junior and attracted scouts from every major league organization as his fastball was clocked in the mid-90s.
Drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in the 2018 draft, Gray was later traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers. After starting with the Single-A Great Lakes Loons he was promoted to High-A Rancho Cucamonga Quakes and then the Double-A Tulsa Drillers, and was named as the Dodgers Minor League pitcher of the year in 2019. Traded to the Washington Nationals in summer 2021, the pitcher recorded his first Major League win against the Miami Marlins in a 6 inning outing in September the same year, and there’s no doubt that Gray is one to watch in the near future.
