Born on April 5, 1989, in Mission Hills, California, Justin Holiday developed his basketball skills at Campbell Hall School in Studio City. During his senior year, he averaged 19.1 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 2.0 blocks per game, leading his team to a 33–1 record and a state Class IV championship. He continued his collegiate career at the University of Washington, where his role expanded significantly over four seasons. By his junior year, he earned a spot on the 2010 Pac-10 All-Defensive Team. As a senior co-captain alongside Isaiah Thomas, Holiday was recognized as the Pac-10 Defensive Player of the Year by Netscouts Basketball, averaging 10.5 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game during that season.
Undrafted in the 2011 NBA draft, Holiday began his professional journey overseas with Okapi Aalstar in Belgium for the 2011–12 season, where he was a starter. He then returned to the U.S., joining the Idaho Stampede in 2012. His NBA career officially began in 2013 with the Philadelphia 76ers, signing a 10-day contract and later being named to the All-NBA D-League Third Team and All-Defensive Second Team for his performance with the Idaho Stampede. A significant milestone in his career came in 2015 when he won an NBA championship with the Golden State Warriors. Over his 12-year NBA career, Holiday has played for numerous teams, including stints with the Atlanta Hawks, Chicago Bulls, New York Knicks, Memphis Grizzlies, Indiana Pacers, Sacramento Kings, Dallas Mavericks, and Denver Nuggets, showcasing consistent performance as a versatile guard and forward.
Holiday’s career demonstrates resilience and adaptability, transitioning from European leagues to a successful NBA tenure. He has consistently contributed to his teams, notably achieving career highs of 30 points and 13 rebounds during his time with the Dallas Mavericks and Miami Heat, respectively. His experience includes being a key player in various playoff series. Looking ahead, Holiday is set to continue his professional career with Virtus Bologna in Italy in 2025, further extending his international footprint in basketball.
